Finally. The pictures I've been promising. Many of them. But first, a brief recap:
Pattern: Petal Sonnet Shawl by Hazel Carter
Source: Blackberry Ridge
Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr, color Vanilla, a bit over four ounces
Needles: Addi Turbos, US 3s
Other info: The shawl is over 80 inches after blocking on the long edge, so much larger than the 48 inches noted in the pattern which recommended using finer yarn. I really like the size, though, and wouldn't change it. The shawl has a strange construction: the border is knit first and the body of the shawl is picked up from there. It is also knit in two pieces and sewn together down the middle, which was relatively painless. It took around 3 weeks from start to finish.
Here's a close up of the sewing, see how the two sides line up so well:
Here's the tip, the only thing I don't like about the shawl. It looks rather wonky and not right. But I don't mind too much. And you deserve to see it if you've made it this far into the post.
hey you...just checking in to see how you are...hope everything is ok :)

Absolutely gorgeous! I've been very impressed with Blackberry Ridge's beautiful patterns and yarns, especially the Hazel Carter laces. Their sock patterns are great, too.

It's beautiful (of course). The sewing is perfect. :-) And I like it that big; the "knot" when you have it tied around you has just the right lengths hanging down.
And they recommend *finer* yarn than Zephyr? I must see. I go into Homer-esque trances when near fine, fiddly yarn.

Oh wow it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm sooooo tempted to order the pattern, but I have so many shawl patterns, but I really want it. I'll continue arguing with myself in private now.
